Exceptional Swiss "Black Forest" Walnut Wild Boar, by Peter Buri, circa 1890. Carved in the form of a trotting wild boar and signed by Peter Buri. Peter Buri was a master carver from Brienz, Switzerland. His name will occasionally turn up on wild boars carved in the late 1800's. This particular carving also bears the stamp of A.D. Grossman of Interlaken. Grossman curated a shop in Interlaken, Switzerland where he sold only the finest Black Forest pieces. Collectors should alway inspect their pieces for marks such as Grossman's or Bergen of Interlaken.
