Swiss Black Forest Bear Hall StandSwiss Black Forest Bear Hall Stand in the form of three bear mountaineers equipped with climbing ropes, picks, binoculars and backpacks, working together to ascend a steep jagged mountain in the attempt to reach a remote Swiss chalet. 75 inches (190.5cm). The true uniqueness of the piece lies in the ability of the carver to incorporate perspective into the sculpture. The bears in the foreground are carved in great detail, especially the ropes, tools and binoculars, whereas the chalet in the distance is small and less detailed giving the impression of a great distance between it and the climbing bears. This use of perspective enhancing the animation and interaction of the bears is rare in any form of sculpture and almost never seen in “Black Forest” pieces.
