1940s Hèrmes Leather Case owned by René Floriot

This is a gorgeous 1940s Hèrmes Leather Case owned by René Floriot. It bears the initials of its famous previous owner, “R.F.” for René Floriot, the storied French lawyer. René Floriot was the defense attorney for many high-profile French cases, often regarded as one of the best French lawyers of the 20th century. He earned the reputation as the most expensive attorney in all of Paris, as well as someone with immense drive and a healthy dose of shrewdness. Some of his famous cases include the defense of serial killer Marcel Petiot and of German ambassador Otto Abetz. Of about 20,000 cases handled in his career, he only lost 12 clients to the death penalty.
