This beautiful 1960’s Carl Zeiss 10×50 Periscope has been fully restored and is in incredible working order. The paint has been removed and the exposed finish has been hand polished. The original glass and filters remain intact as well.
This is not only an impressive fixture adding to the ambience of any room with a view, but an astounding Cold War era rarity. The instrument’s stunning optics allow for a viewing quality often tested while mounted on lookout towers, peering along the Berlin Wall. The binoculars were also commonly used in trench warfare.
The periscope has a 10 x 50 magnification with manufacturer’s marks displaying Carl Zeiss in a cartouche. Additional features include dual levels, and etchings to denote visual field measurements. An internal sun-shield and humidity reduction crystals also add to the piece’s visual clarity.
