This superb live steam tank is named “Gracie,” 5″ Gauge Live Steam Tank Locomotive model of the London, Midland, and Scottish (LMS) Railways locomotive. Gracie has an 0-6-0 classification, a reference to the wheel arrangement meaning that there are no leading or trailing wheels, and that the six powered driving wheels are coupled on three axles.
This model also features the Walschaert’s valve gear, which was invented by Egide Walschaerts in 1844. This gear provided the steam engine operator a range of settings from maximum economy to maximum power. It also provided an ease of access to the parts that was previously inexistent and allowed for better maintenance. (Interesting fact: The patent for the gear incorrectly read “Walschaert” instead of “Walshaerts”, leading to many a controversy over the ending “s” when referring to this gear.)
Gracie comes with a beautiful display track.
