RMS Lusitania Model Ship, c.1950

This model ship is not just any model ship, but it is the model of the famous RMS Lusitania, sunk by the German U-boat 11 during WWI. It was revealed that the Lusitania was carrying about 173 tons of war munitions for Britain, which the Germans cited as further justification for the attack. The sinking via torpedo blast of the British ocean liner was particularly significant during the first world war, as its tragic fate garnered support from the Americans towards the allied forces; this support ultimately led to their winning of the war. 1,200 lives were lost from the attack. This particularly large model ship is of upmost accuracy and precise detailing. The craftsmanship on it allows us to visit every single nook and cranny on the boat, as if the original ship had been shrunk to fit inside our living room. The ship is encased in an elegant a wood and glass box, which keeps the model unscathed and safe within it.
