This is a wonderful Swiss Black Forest Parrot Carving. Though Switzerland is not usually associated with parrots, the artist of this piece must have had a close encounter with a parrot to be able to create such a realistic depiction of this magnificent creature. The carver not only captured the anatomical features of the bird, but also a sense of personality in its face.
