“Swiss Carvings The Art of the Black Forest 1820-1940.” written by Simon Daniels, Michael Daniels and Jay Arenski.
The book takes collectors on a journey through the history of Swiss carvings, from the art’s humble beginnings to the pieces exhibited at the greatest world fairs, such as the Paris Exhibition of 1900.
This is a valuable tool for collectors to study and use as a reference guide. The chapters cover collecting and exhibitions to the design and construction of the pieces all the way through to original photographs from the 19th century.
I will often look up pieces and I especially find the original catalogues in the back very useful – Simon Daniels.
We have sold out of the Swiss Carvings book but it often turns up on Amazon.
