These binoculars first appeared in a Carl Zeiss catalog in 1938 as a “special construction.” The 10 x 80 power and 45 degree incline of the oculars made these binoculars highly useful for both land and sea observation. The angle of the oculars also allowed for the observer to wear either a helmet or a gas mask for increased protection on the battlefield.
These binoculars are marked with the Carl Zeiss, Jena maker’s code, “eug,” and also feature the top secret T-Coated lenses. Only Carl Zeiss, Jena, and Optische Präzisions Werke, Warschau, (also under Carl Zeiss leadership), manufactured the 10 x 80 80 degree angled German binoculars.
