Ivor Roberts-Jones’ most iconic work is the monumental sculpture of Winston Churchill which currently stands in Parliament Square. The work was commissioned in 1971, and this bronze was a maquette for this piece. Eight sculptors were asked to submit their designs for a committee to review. After a few suggested amendments to the initial design, the committee unanimously awarded the commission to Ivor Roberts-Jones.
